WEEK SIX
- Monday: Call West End for a FREE estimate.
- Tuesday: Contact IRS or your accountant for tax information on moving.
- Wednesday: If renting, notify your landlord you're moving.
- Thursday: Start to inventory and evaluate your possessions.
- Friday: Contact schools, doctors, etc, to obtain copies of personal records.
- Saturday: Use up things you can't move, like food and cleaning supplies.
WEEK FIVE
- Tuesday: Make a list of everyone you need to notify about your moving.
- Thursday: Get a change of address kit from the Post Office.
WEEK FOUR
- Monday: Make travel plans for your moving trip.
- Wednesday: Contact school system at destination for enrollment information.
- Friday: Establish bank accounts at destination.
WEEK THREE
- Monday: List and notify utilities of disconnect dates.
- Tuesday: Arrange start up of utilities at new home.
- Wednesday: Apply for insurance for your new home.
- Thursday: Verify scheduled services with your mover.
- Friday: Have car serviced for the trip.
- Saturday: Discard items you are not taking and have a garage sale.
WEEK TWO
- Monday: Settle any outstanding bills.
- Tuesday: Return borrowed items and library books.
- Wednesday: Take pets to the vet for checkup.
- Thursday: Drain oil and gas from power equipment.
- Saturday: If elevator building is involved, contact management to schedule appointment to move in or out.
WEEK ONE
- Sunday: Arrange for sitter for children and pets on moving day.
- Monday: Give away plants to a friend.
- Tuesday: Obtain travelers checks for trip expenses.
- Thursday: Defrost your freezer and refrigerator. Block doors for safety.
- Friday: Organize things you are taking with you.
- Saturday: Have party to say good-bye to friends.
If your telephones are leased, return them to the phone company. Before the van leaves, walk through your house with the driver to be sure nothing has been missed.

Here's a recap of the companies and bureaus who need your change of address:
- Post Office
- Insurance companies (Life, House, Health, Auto).
- Local credit bureau and creditors (stores, credit cards, etc).
- Financial institution where you have savings, loans, checking accounts or stock.
- Magazines (the Postal Service will provide free change of address cards to send to publishers.)
- Church (obtain necessary records).
